Softwood plywood is a plywood laminated with softwood veneers on both faces of the plywood sheet. Its core veneers could be hardwood veneers and it can still be called softwood plywood because of the appearance.
The most common used softwood veneers are connifer species radiata pine, agathis pine, larch pine.
There are differeng grades for the pine faces. The grades can be BB/CC or CDX. In terms of plywood strength, there are non-structural plywood and structural plywood which are manufactured with under very different conditions.
Unlike hardwood, the softwood are mainly used in the building such as walls, roofing, subfloor, and so on.

Softwood For Plywood
In China, softwood plywood are manufactured with imported coniferous veneers like radiata pine, larch and agathis for economic reasons. China has its own softwood veneer such as Mongolica Scotch Pine veneer. But radiata pine is the cheapest as China is a large importer of radiata pine logs from Pacific countries. Larch has been popular for its decorative patterns and the larch veneers are mainly sourced from Russia.
Softwood plywood are defined by its face veneers. Its core veneers can also be hardwood such as poplar and eucalyptus.
