Eucalyptus is a major hardwood veneer used for plywood production in China. The most important species is Eucalyptus urophylla × E.grandis, which has a commercial name Guanglin 9.
Eucalyptus in Guangxi
China state owned DONGLIN FORESTRY has imported eucalyptus seedlings from Australia, Indonesia and built the largest eucalyptus gene pool in China.

In 2026, Guangxi boasts 134 million mu (approximately 86.7 million hectares) of eucalyptus plantations, ranking first in China, with annual timber production of 40 million cubic meters. Guangxi has become the largest national seedling reserve and the most important production base for forest products in China.

All major plywood factories use eucalyptus veneer from Guangxi or Guangdong in South China.
Eucalyptus Plywood Production
The biggest eucalyptus plywood factories are located in Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangxi, and Guangdong.
Eucalyptus veneer is usually used to make premium furniture plywood, structural plywood and high quality film faced plywood.

The eucalyptus can make some of the strongest plywood and finest plywood. We can see a lot of melamine faced plywood and film faced plywood are using eucalyptus as core material.
